Crib, bedding, artwork and the mobile I made. |
I was pretty certain it was a girl so when we found out a boy was on the way, I had to go back to drawing board design wise. Pintrest and Emily were great helps and I was able to put together a mini inspiration board.
Next was painting! As soon as Jason's painter had a few free days I had him come in and paint all the built-ins and both spare rooms. Deciding on bedding was real challenge. I found some fabrics that I liked and considered going the custom route but I what I wanted was pretty simple and Serena and Lily is so great at simple. Plus, I loved the shade of green in the trellis sheets. My mom loved it too and was kind enough to get it as a shower gift for us.
The crib was by far the biggest ordeal - EVER! My brother and sister in law had their crib left over and asked it we wanted it. Of course, we were takers but there was one big problem. It was in Houston. We got it to Austin and then Midland pretty easily. The next step was to paint it. That wasn't so easy. I apparently have no clue about painting furniture and was dead wrong when I thought that it would be an afternoon job. I started getting nervous about the whole thing when I got to 30 weeks and the crib project wasn't complete. It took me a while to catch on to the fact that my 'simple' project was an impossibility, but once I got it the panic set in. Crib meltdown number 1 led us to La Bebe and all of their fabulous cribs (not to mention clothes). We found one we loved and they even had it in stock. I was so excited - my crisis had been fixed in less than an hour. Crib meltdown number 2 came when we got home and pulled the crib out of the box. It was cream, not white. At 30+ weeks pregnant that was unacceptable. Crying commenced. My very frustrated husband packed up the crib and drove it back to the store. I was pretty much inconsolable and was having visions of bringing my son home and having him sleep in drawer. I had been so opposed to Pottery Barn but I didn't have a great deal of options. It turned out great and I absolutely love the crib now.
All in all we are just about done with the room. I am still working on the desk chair but at this point that have to wait until I get to Austin.
Below are before and after pictures and some notes on what is what. The only thing that I couldn't get to photograph well was the artwork. They are from The Animal Print Shop and are all forest animals.
